Sharing may help introduce bacteria into your mascara. If you choose to try mascara from a tester be sure you use a clean disposable mascara brush and not the brush from the actual mascara tester.
Replace after 3 months
Keep your bill from the purchase of your mascara and write the date you first opened the mascara on it. Once opened the preservatives in the mascara that work to combat bacteria start to lose their effectiveness over time. As a precautionary rule, replace your mascara after three months.
Contact lens considerations
Mascaras that run and flake can stain or damage contact lenses. Kiss Me mascara’s exceptional hold may minimize the chances of contact lens damage.

Avoid using “lash-extending” mascaras that have synthetic particles in them which attach themselves to the tips of your lashes but can also get in between you lenses and your eyes and cause abrasions.

Contact lens wearers should avoid mascaras that require make-up removers since some removers can create an oily film over a contact lens and damage it permanently

Avoid using an eye make-up remover
Most mascaras require a make-up remover and a fair bit of rubbing to remove completely. This can be hard on the sensitive skin around the eyes. Using a mascara such as Kiss Me, that doesn’t require a make-up remover, will save you time, inconvenience and money.
Remove completely before bed
Many mascaras leave some residue at the base of the lashes. A build up can occur and trigger a reaction so make sure to clean your lashes thoroughly before you go to bed. Since Kiss Me mascara comes off with warm water and gentle pressure it is easily removed without leaving any residue.
Do not apply while driving
Driving while applying your mascara is hazardous. There is the obvious risk of an accident and the lesser, but still serious, threat of poking yourself in the eye with the mascara wand. That would increase your chances of an infection given the possible abrasion it might cause.
Close bottle tightly after use
Air not only dries out your mascara prematurely but it can also carry in additional bacteria. To keep your mascara “fresh”, open it only to apply it and then close the bottle tightly immediately after use.
Do not touch the wand
Avoid touching the lash wand, or worse, wetting your finger with saliva and then touching the wand to thin out the mascara.
Keep out of sunlight
The preservatives in cosmetics tend to breakdown if you leave a product in direct sunlight for a long time so store your mascara accordingly.
If irritation occurs discontinue use
If you ever notice any unusual redness, irritation, itchiness or swelling of the eye immediately discontinue use of all cosmetic products and consult an ophthalmologist. In most cases the symptoms will quickly subside and then you can slowly reintroduce newly bought cosmetics one at a time while you monitor your eye’s reaction.
Lash loss
It takes about ten weeks for an eyelash to reach its maximum length and they generally live for about three to five months so when you notice a fallen lash don’t panic it is as normal as losing a few the hairs on your head. Keep in mind that bacterial infections, allergies and poor hygiene may lead to the excessive loss of eyelashes so keep your eye make-up clean and monitor your eyes regularly.
Research your brands
Find out about the companies whose cosmetics you buy. What kind of reputation do they have? How long have they been around? Has your mascara been safety tested?
